Reelfoot Fishing Report
Reelfoot Fishing Report
Sunday, March 30, 2003
Now that we have gotten through winter...yeah right!!! Anyway, with the approaching spring comes the thoughts of catching those slab crappie and bucket mouthed bass. Both of these are starting to show themselves on the waters and in the coolers on Reelfoot Lake. The best crappie fishing seems to be in the part of the lake know as Green Island Point. This is where the deepest water of the lake is located. The best techniques are trolling the deep stumpbeds with minnows in about 8 - 12 foot of water. We have also heard some good reports coming from the Upper Blue Basin from some fishermen fishing the edges and stumps located on the eastern and southern end of the basin. Minnows seem to be the bait of choice here as well. As for the bass fishing, slow down is the name of the game. Try pitching a black-blue pig-n-jig combo into some of the big lilypad beds in the Starve Pond area and in Burned Woods. There have been some reports of a few fish being taken on jerk baits fishing the stumps along the Palestine Stumps area. We still have several good dates open if you are interested in a guided fishing trip on Reelfoot Lake. And remember, always take a child fishing and you'll make memories that will last a lifetime.
